Do You Smoke?

I faced a different experience today while returning to the hotel. I was on the connecting bridge over River Clyde between SEC and Science Museum. 5 kids were standing with their cycles. Their age may be between 10-15, with 2 Girls and 3 boys. A boy just fell down from his cycle and was bleeding a few, but he was fine with it. Everyone was laughing at him.. I asked him:
- What Happened to your knee?
- I just fell down there.
- It hurts, right?
- Yeah.
- Take care.
Then I walked again. Then I noticed they started to ride again and were making fun of each other. They were coming towards the SEC center; all were nicely passed, and the elder girl kept her hand on my shoulder to get my attention, and she was cycling very fast. Near Armadillo Audi, the five kids stopped before me, and the elder girl somehow fell down there. The injured kid said HI ! to me. I had a chocolate bar in my pocket and said:
- Do you love chocolate?
- Yesssssss... (Everyone)
- I have only one. Who can get it?
- Give it to me (Everyone)
- What is that chocolate? (Elder girl)
- It's Hawaiian Shots. I can throw it; you have to catch it. Or you will have to share.
- Give it to me (Elder Girl). I will share it.
I gave her and then said BYE to them. I started walking. So many people were there. After around 15 sec they called me loudly several times:
- Heyyyyyyy!
I noticed, and then I went to them. And 10-11-year-old girl asked me:
- DO YOU SMOKE?
- what? !!
- DO YOU SMOKE? (Everyone)
- smoke?!
- Yeah, Smoke!
- No.!
- Don't smoke? (astonished)
- No. I don't.
- Why did you come to SEC? (Elder Girl)
- Oh! I have a conference here. I have publications. I am an author. I came here from Asia to present my paper. So I am your guest.
- Wowww. Great. (Elder Girl)
- Thanks.
- Best of Luck (Everyone)
- Thanks. My Pleasure.
- Do you love Glasgow? (younger girl)
- Yeah. But the weather is so cold for me.
- Yeah! The weather is shady. Take care. (younger girl) .. Best of Luck ( Everyone)
Then the elder girl came to me and shook her hands with me. I asked their name:
- What's your name? (pointing to the injured boy)
- Buddy!
- You?
- Oh! I am, buddy. He is lying. (younger boy)
- Oh. Great .. then?
- I am, buddy.. why do you two make jokes with him? Buddy is my nickname (younger girl).
- it's okay. Forget about it. Have a good day.
Then they came with me in a few paths and went towards Kelvingrove street.
I understood that they do smoke. It is not that surprising in Glasgow in the sense that most of the people here smoke in the open air. In Bangladesh, Kids from classes 5-6 are smoking now.
Wind changes. It hurts me that kids are changing drastically. 😔
